AG Sunday Backs Bills on Vaping and DUI Reform

Written by

Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday expressed support for two bills passed by the Pennsylvania House this week.

House Bill 1425 establishes a directory to regulate electronic nicotine delivery systems, including vapes, similar to the existing cigarette directory. The bill aims to prevent unregulated and often flavored vaping devices—frequently designed to resemble popular electronics—from reaching minors in the state.

House Bill 1615, which passed through the House Judiciary Committee, seeks to maintain DUI sentencing guidelines that recognize Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) as a first offense. The bill addresses a state court ruling that ARD dispositions no longer count as first offenses in DUI cases.

Sunday voiced support for both measures, highlighting the need to regulate vaping products that target minors and to ensure accountability for repeat DUI offenders while preserving treatment options for those who need them.
