NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A juvenile detention center employee is being accused of supplying juvenile inmates with a THC vape pen before they were hospitalized in Nashville in April, according to an arrest affidavit.
Police said that five juveniles involved were incarcerated at the Nashville Juvenile Detention Center. Joey Guilds, 49, was an employee at the jail at the time.
The affidavit states that on April 24, all five of the victims were taken to a local hospital due to a severe illness after allegedly using a vape pen containing K2 spice, a form of THC. The pen was found on one of the victims.
The victim found with the pen said it was given to them by Guilds.
“All the victims stated that they were sick due to ingesting the spice in the vape pen. All of the victim’s toxicology reports came back positive for THC. Two of the victims spent the night at the hospital, the others were released that night. None of the victims sustained any injuries and have all made full recoveries,” the affidavit states.

During the investigation, officers observed video surveillance of the 49-year-old allowing the victims to go into another’s cell. That’s when the victims allegedly smoked from the pen.
About 20 minutes later, the victims became ill and started vomiting.
Guilds was put on administrative leave due to the incident and immediately resigned, according to the affidavit. She’s charged with five counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
