Louisiana organization aims to stop youth vaping

Written by

MONROE, La. (KNOE) – The Louisiana Campaign for Tobacco-Free Living is on a mission to put a stop to youth vaping.

According to TFL, nearly 1 in 5 middle school students and almost 1 in 3 high school students vape.

“Vaping has become so prevalent in our youth,” said TFL Regional Manager Jennifer Haneline. “You know, we were seeing those smoking rates decline for years and years and years, and vapes hit the market and it’s just exploded with our youth.”

Haneline said it’s no coincidence that youth are attracted to vaping.

“Some of those flavors, cotton candy, they’re very appealing for kids, and that’s by no mistake. That is intentional from these companies because they need these youths to replace the people who are dying off from traditional smoking.”
