PATTERSON, La. (NEWS 15) — Detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office made a significant discovery during a traffic stop in Patterson in April. Inside the vehicle, they found 1,800 bottles of synthetic CBD vape liquid.
Jamon Herbert, 31, of Thibodaux, was arrested on Wednesday, May 28, on a warrant for possession of a Schedule I drug with intent to distribute. Bond has not been set.
Authorities also issued a warrant for Javvon Williams, 20, of Thibodaux, for the same charge.
Each bottle is valued at more than $100, totaling over $180,000. Testing by the Acadiana Crime Lab revealed the presence of synthetic cannabinoids, often marketed under names like K2 or Spice.
Synthetic marijuana poses significant health risks, including seizures, breathing problems, and potential overdose. Officials warned these products are dangerous and often disguised as legal.
The investigation is ongoing.
