Teen arrested for armed robbery at Hilton vape shop that prompted school lockout

Written by

Hilton, N.Y. — A teen faces charges after a robbery at a vape shop led the Hilton Central School District to place two schools on lockout last week.

Deputies responded to Vape King on Main Street in Hilton for a report of an armed robbery shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday.

A 17-year-old boy from Hilton entered the store wearing a mask, displayed a gun and demanded cash and merchandise before fleeing, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

The ensuing search for the suspect led to lockouts at Quest Elementary School and Hilton High School, along with a lockdown at the Hilton Village Community Center.

Deputies found the suspect Friday and took him into custody. He’s charged with first-degree robbery, criminal use of a firearm and petit larceny. He was taken to the Monroe County Children’s Detention Center on $10,000 cash bail or $25,000 bond.
