Willie’s CBD Shop in Waco closes as Senate Bill 3 passes the House floor

Written by

WACO, Texas (KWTX) – On Thursday, the Texas House approved Senate Bill 3 which bans all THC products in the state when signed into law on September 1st.

Willies CBD Shop in Waco has been following the bill at the Capitol, and owner Ray Ramos says they have decided to close their doors, with today being their last day.

“That’s it for us today unfortunately, you know we’d love to be here longer,” Ramos said.

Texas House Representative for Waco, Pat Curry, says the ban will help Texans across the state, since THC creates liability issues for businesses who have employees who use THC or hemp products.

Representative Curry adds that there is separate legislation and programs, like the Compassionate Use Program, for people who need THC products for medical reasons.

“We already did pass the bill for medical marijuana anyways, so you’re going to have two or three different angles of when it needs to be available it will be available,” Curry explained.

The bill will reach Governor Greg Abbott’s desk soon and is expected to be signed, but Ramos says he believes the fight over THC is not over.

“We had high hopes for this place, we had other ideas of where we wanted to take this place and that all got put on hold, I wouldn’t say it got cancelled, because I think we will be back,” Ramos said.
